Assessment
what is the goal? if it is to make a career move, then we look at a client's experience, motivated skills, target environments (geography, salary, lifestyle, room for growth), timeline
Examine the market, consider what types of paths or opportunities could make sense, how to research or vet ideas, what resources does the client already have, look for where a client can compete / what a client might need to do to prepare to compete
Packaging + Messaging
Evaluate how well aligned the "packaging" is with the target and update resume(s), LinkedIn, build a cover letter, figure out what NOT to say, address areas of concern / otherwise messy employment situations
create a search strategy and structure, establish milestones and targets, set up (very basic) systems.
Tracking + Support
Track activity and performance to goals, continue to refine search strategies and materials, adjust course as necessary, push past plateaus and roadblocks, interview-specific prep, salary negotiation tactics, work on exit strategy, clarifying the new role and employer's expectations - also a lot of hand holding, some cheerleading, and generally being a source of accountability
